In June 2015, Portugal hosted the Blue Week, an International meeting platform for all of those who care about the ocean. The Blue Week had three dimensions: business dynamics, strategic thinking and political discussion. Portugal was a reference in the international discussion and action on the ocean. Dr. Wangüemert showed in the University of Algarve stand the advances on sea cucumber aquaculture focused on Portuguese species. During this event, information about the economical value of sea cucumber as new resource was provided; the main products obtained from sea cucumber were showed in this event, carrying out a tasting of bêche de mer from Holothuria arguinensis. Some talks about this subject were also given, and participation on round table about new species for aquaculture. Interviews and talks with Portuguese politicians were carried out. Main developments and advances on sea cucumber aquaculture in Europe and some concerns about public funding for new companies focused on this activity were exposed and explained to the Minister of Agriculture and Sea from Portugal and to the “Viceprimer” Minister of Sea.
